The Rolex Maxi 72 World Championship and the Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup are taking place in Porto Cervo.

This is one of the most popular events in the sailing calendar. It has lived up to the expectations so far. This event is hosted by the Rolex and the International Maxi Association. This time it is organized by the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda.

The Maxi 72 Class race has so far been dominated by the Momo. This is the third time in a row that Momo has dominated the race and the event. The tactician of the yacht is Marcus Wieser and he has good strategist with him in the form of Murray Jones. This man is a six-time AC competitor and he knows a thing or two about the 72 class races.

In the year 1921, the family Beetle of New Bedford used the techniques they perfected building, whaling ships and created the Beetle Cat.

This was the boat that is friendly and easy-to-handle and it could be sailed easily by children as well. The clean lines and unique shape of the Beetle Cat have changed over time, and now nearly an after a century, they are abundantly present along the coast of New England.

The owner of Beetle Inc. Bill Womack said “If one gets the opportunity of seeing the boat of beetle on the water, then it cannot be overlooked, the boat has such a beauty.”

Womack along with his craftsmen build the Beetle Cat of 12-foot size out of wood, using the same mold, patterns and techniques as their ancestors used to do decades ago. Womack purchased the company in the year 2003, and moved the workshop where boats were made to Wareham.

The Round the Island race in the UK was currently in the news that was held in the Isle of Wight in Cowes. The race held on the first weekend of July this year comprised of four sessions held in a single day. The game had two halves and one could get their pick of everything. End of the day it was an exciting match to watch on Cloudy Bay at all levels.

The main headlines were gathered by Concise 10 as it not only finished first, with the crew fresh from a Yacht Charter in Greece, but also succeeded in breaking the time record set last year by Phaedo 3. The boat was skippered by Ned Collier Wakefield who, along with his crew, was able to steer their 70ft trimaran to the finishing line in record time, about a minute off the previous time record set. The spotlight also fell on JPK10.80 which was skippered by Adam Gosling. They were able to get the Gold Roman Bowl, which is usually preserved for the winner who completes the race as per the time schedule.
